Sangría

Sangría is less a cocktail than a jug of fruit wine meant for a whole table, and the fruit goes in early enough to hand over its colour and sweetness to the wine. What separates one version from another is the base: red wine in most of Spain, and increasingly cider in the north, where it is closer to a local custom than a drink. It is meant to be poured generously and refilled from the jug all evening.
