Steak and Green Bean Pie (New Zealand Meat Pie)
A classic meat pie of steak, carrots and green beans.
The steak and green bean pie is the meat pie everyone in the country argues about, and the argument is whether the beans belong in it. They do, whole and drained, because they hold the vegetables in place through a long bake. Cut the beef coarse and brown it properly, and the filling should be thick enough to keep the pastry dry.
