Currywurst (Berlin-Style Sausage with Curry Ketchup)
Sliced pork sausage tossed with a tangy curry-tomato ketchup, dusted with curry powder.
Currywurst is Berlin street food, sold at an Imbiss with the sausage sliced and covered in a sauce that is part tomato and part vinegar, finished with curry powder rather than curry paste. Its history belongs largely to twentieth-century Berlin, and the standard has stayed stubbornly informal. Adding more curry powder at the table is normal, since every Imbiss blends its own.
