Coleslaw (American Creamy Cabbage Slaw)

The creamy version is the American answer to a cabbage dish that the rest of the world makes with vinegar, and the dressing is mayonnaise based with sugar in it. The cabbage must stay cold and crunchy for the hour it sits, so it is dressed late and kept cold. Thin slicing is the only way it works.
