Ginataang Tilapia (Filipino Coconut Milk Fish Stew)
Tilapia simmered in coconut milk with ginger, garlic and chili.
Ginataang tilapia is the everyday fish stew that lets a cheap fresh fish taste like a considered meal, with coconut milk, ginger and garlic doing the seasoning instead of a heavy spice base. The fish is added late and turned once, because it falls apart if handled more. It is usually served with rice and a green chilli on the side for those who want heat.
