Toad in the Hole (British Sausage in Yorkshire Pudding)
Sausages baked in a risen Yorkshire pudding batter.
The name is a joke about how the sausages look when the batter sets around them, and the dish began as a way to use up batter meant for Yorkshire pudding. The sausages go in raw and partly submerged, sitting down in the batter rather than on it. Under-cooking the batter leaves them floating, which is the usual failure.
